Synopsis
All his life, Italo Rota has collected objects as expressions of the city and of urban development. His collection contains an uncountable number of items, kept in his Milan home and in a storage space. More than a collection, it is an accumulation of books, popular objects and very rare works of art. The film gathers Italo Rota’s testimony on the meaning of collecting and on the use of objects as tools for knowledge.
Director's note
The film was created on the occasion of the exhibition Pianeta città. I had the good fortune to spend several entire days with Italo Rota: it was a great gift, because it allowed me to come close to his method, his work and his intelligence.
