Eleonora Mastropietro is a geographer and author of documentary films.

Associate professor at the University of Milan, she is in charge of the Courses of Urban Geography, Methods for the Representation and Communication of Territories, Visual Geography workshop and is the supervisor of the Video Production and Editing Lab for Territorial Research and Communication.

Graduated in Literature in Milan, in 2009 she obtained her PhD at the University of Bologna. In 2007, she attended the course of Film Writing at the Civica Scuola di Cinema in Milan and then the course of Documentary Cinema. After that, she took part in workshops and training courses and collaborated in collective film direction.

In her work she merges the accurate observation of documentary film, the methodology and scholarship of academic research.

She is a founding member of La Fournaise, where she is in charge for producing and directing documentaries.

In 2018 he directed her first feature film A Story from Here premiered at the 2018 Festival dei Popoli.
Montanario – Upon that Mountain
, premiered in 2023 in competition at the 71′ Trento Festival, is her second feature film.
